It’s rare that I find something at my local Sephora store that has not come online at sephora.ca yet or that I have not heard any bloggers comment on… especially from such a huge brand as Tarte!
So you can imagine my surprise and delight when I came across the Tarte Parkave Princess Chisel Palette ($48 CAD) and wanted to get this review out in case you wanted to take advantage of the Sephora VIB Sale (ending Wednesday).
The palette comes in quite a heavy case that clicks to close (small detail but I wish it had a magnetic closure instead, always seems to add that perfect touch to makeup). The front of the palette has a crocodile bronze pattern with the ‘parkave princess’ and ‘Tarte’ logo in gold. I really love this touch, it looks expensive for lack of a better word. The back of the case is plain gold with a reflective mirror finish.
This palette contains six matte shadows in quite sizeable pans (4.5g each) to contour, bronze & highlight your skin. The powders are surprisingly really silky soft, buttery and pigmented. These qualities are really important in a powder to ensure you get the colour payoff without skipping or blotchiness.
Going from left to right:
Halo: light creamy pink colour. I like how the pink isn’t too pronounced (personal preference) and it almost blends in as a bone colour in to the skin.
Enhance: light banana shade that maintains it’s brightening effect when blended into the skin
Carat: a cool tone contouring shade suitable for light to light medium skin tones
Princess Cut: a neutral contour or bronze shade suitable for light to light medium skin tones
Angle: light warm slightly yellow tone brown shade best for bronzing light medium skin tones
Crown: a medium neutral brown shade for bronzing medium to medium-dark skin tones
Overall, I love the convience of this palette – that I dont have to reach for three separate compacts to get my matte highlight, bronze and glow on. I also enjoy the variety of cool, warm and neutral shades and by way of luck these compliment my skin tone. I realize that this only caters to one out of a million different skin tones and I hope tarte comes out with a lighter and few deeper versions so we can all enjoy it. Overall, this is a nice palette that is beauty swatched approved.
