2017 Favourite: Foundations

Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation ($102 CAD)

When I want to go for a natural makeup look and fear over-doing it, this foundation is my fail-safe, best friend. When I first apply it, the finish is a beautiful natural one but it always seems under-done. Towards the end of my makeup routine, when i’m done going in with my concealer and powders, I end up with exactly the natural makeup look I was going for: a more flawless version of me that is never over-done.

YSL Fusion ink Foundation ($65 CAD)

For some reason, this got replaced by the All Hours YSL foundation on Sephora, but thank the LORD it’s not discontinued and can be found on the YSL site! This foundation literally lasts all day, looking perfect from the moment I apply it to the time when I take it off. The coverage is medium and the finish has this beautiful natural effect.

Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation ($58.90 CAD)

For a flawless full coverage solution, this is the foundation I reach for to get me through any extent of a day. This literally lasts all day and keeps me looking perfect until the end. The colour matches my skin exactly and perfects my face without looking overly done.

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation ($54.39 CAD)

Despite being marketed as the ‘less full coverage’ option to it’s alternative Magic Foundation, this one delivers medium buildable coverage that keeps me looking flawless all day. It does what a foundation should do: matches my skin, brightens up my complexion and leaves me looking fresh and awake all day

Did your website get a new makeover? 🙂 It looks great!

Anyways, an interesting selection of foundations that I hadn’t heard much of before! No one ever seems to talk about Illamasqua anymore…or is it just me? I’d actually like to see more people talk more about it so that I’d actually know what to look at lol.

I sampled the CT Magic Foundation before and I didn’t like it on me. I felt that it made my skin look dry and cakey, so I will give the Light Wonder a sample next time!

I did get a blog makeover! Thank you so much (Laura from Blogerize helped me :)).

Hahaha you’re SO right! No one talks about Illamasqua and it appears like a super artistic/ intimidating brand but it has a lot of gems. I found out about the Skin Base Foundation through some older PixiWoo YouTube videos, went out on a limb and never looked back! Definitely try the light wonder if you can, I really think you’ll like it. It glows, is more moisturizing and less full on coverage than Magic Foundation (but still has decent coverage).

What are some of your foundation favs?

Ah sorry for the late reply! Your replies don’t show up on reader 😭but luckily, I came back to check.

My fail-safe everyday go-to is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, no doubt. If I want something with a bit more coverage, a bit more long-lasting, I use Bare Minerals BarePRO liquid foundation. Discovered it a few months ago and never looked back.

I’m currently testing The Ordinary foundations…have you tried them?

NO worries!! I have to check out your favorite foundations, I don’t think I’ve tried any of them! I’ve heard a lot of hype behind the Ordinary- let me know your thoughts. If you’re impressed, I’ll run out to try it ❤️
