Bite Beauty releases limited edition lipsticks monthly inspired by astrological signs. The latest launch, Bite Beauty Astrology Limited Edition Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Cancer ($33 CAD), is described as a muted mauve online. However, in person you’ll see this description could not be farther from the truth.
True to the Amuse Bouche lipstick formula, the texture of Bite Beauty Astrology Lipstick in Cancer is creamy, this applies with a nice sheen and wears comfortably for 4 hours before it evenly wears off leaving my lips feeling soft.Cancer almost looks matte on the lips with a subtle sheen that allows it to wear comfortably on the lips (especially for someone with dry lips). It does not emphasize any texture or lines and evenly wears down over about 4 hours of wear.
My biggest issue with the Bite Beauty Cancer lipstick is that the shade could not be more misleading online than it already is. I was hoping to get the gorgeous warm medium mauvy pink shade (shown below, as advertised on Sephora) but what I actually got was a grey purple shade that did not suit my skintone at all. Cancer made me look washed out, my teeth yellow and super grungy (which is fine if I was going for that look, but I wasnt).
I am almost tempted to take the swatch online to a Bite Beauty lab for them to replicate what Cancer should have been. For those who might not know, if you live near a Bite Beauty lab, they have a process that can create any shade you want, tailored specifically for you. So, if you run out of a limited edition astrology lipstick, lost out on trying one or want to create a brand new shade, chances are the lab can produce multiple backups!
I’ll definitely be returning this lipstick and go back to the ones I already love in my collection for a similar shade. I have a post on the library of Bite Beauty lipsticks I own with swatches if Cancer isn’t your shade:
Happy lipsticking! 🙂
