Flesh Makeup, a company born from the fading shadows of Revlon and sold exclusively at Ulta, is the latest new brand to cause a stir. The collection is wide, formulas are diverse and colour range is wide. I patiently waited before deciding on what to get from the line and from rave influencer reviews, ended up on the primer and highlighter.
Fresh Flesh Illuminating Primer ($41.71 CAD) is a radiant, dewy, gel based primer. The formula is so hydrating that applying it feels extremely luxurious on the skin. It’s like taking a tall glass of cool water for my skin! The Fresh Flesh Illuminating Primer leaves behind a glowy finish that disappears under anything from a medium to full coverage foundation. When worn underneath a sheer foundation, the dew vanishes at about the 2 hour mark. The Fresh Flesh Illuminating Primer does not work to keep my makeup on longer at all. So with that, I would say if you have dry skin and need a quick pick-me-up this could be worth exploring. However, for the price I would just go in with extra moisturizer and skip the primer.
Flesh to Fresh Highlighting Powder ($28 CAD) in Jump is a pressed highlighter. The shade is a light, pale yellow champagne with gold reflect. The formula of this powder is like velvet on the skin – very soft and almost creamy.
The reflect in this powder is so micro-blended that its never shimmery or glittery on the cheeks, delivering a glowy sheen. The intensity of this highlighter is quite soft, yet buildable. I would say this highlighter is most similar in colour and finish to the Essence Pure Nude Highlighter. For those who like an every day highlight that can go from subtle to glowy, I would highly recommend this powder. For others who like to bling from outer space, this will leave something to be desired. I love my highlight and would recommend it to those in the market.
