Ever since I saw the Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette ($85 CAD) I’ve been on the fence of biting the steep price tag and purchasing it. Although this palette comes with 18 shades and breaks down to about $5 CAD per shade, I knew going into this that not all shades are usable from prior swatches I’ve seen. Alas, the amazing colour assortment. select superstar shadows in this palette, the 20% off Sephora VIB sale and the fact that this is rumored to be discontinued put me over the edge and here we are today.
The palette contains 8 shimmer shades and 10 matte shades. There are 2 glitter shades (rose gold and trust fund) that deposit a hint of sparkles with not much pigment behind it. The other shimmers are pigmented, smooth and easy to apply. Most mattes are soft and pigmented while a few have a drier, stiffer texture and dont blend out as easily (black truffle and maneater).
Considering I went into knowing the shortcomings. Would I prefer that all shadows worked better? Yes. From the sounds of it, feels like Huda leant from this palette and got her Dessert Dusk palette right if you’re a fan of the shades.
This purchase was more emotional than rational (isn’t all makeup?) so although not perfect I still have to Beauty Swatch approve it because I do use it everyday since I bought it. The colours are just so inspiring to me and can take me from a quiet work day to a night out easily. For me, this is beauty swatched approved!
