MAC re-launched a collection of lipsticks that were previously limited edition but now included in their permanent line. The one I bought is a retro matte lipstick in Bronx. Normally I stay away from MACs retro matte formula because I find it to be really stiff, drying and it drags unevenly on my lips.
The finish of this lipstick matte but not overly drying compared to other matte lipsticks. If blotted on the lips, it’s much more comfortable or sometimes i’ll put lip balm underneath and dab Bronx on top to get a soft sheen.
However with this shade, not being a bright red or a super light nude, is more forgiving because it’s close to the colour of my actual lips. I swipe once over on my lips then dab in the patchy parts for a full even colour.
When swatched, Bronx is super dark almost brown shade. However when applied lightly on the lips I get a much lighter application that’s basically the same shade as my lips. I love using this in the morning when my lips are super red and I need to tone them down back to something natural. You can build this up on the lips to be more opaque as shown in the swatch if you like.
Overall, I love the shade and can work with the formula so this for me is beauty swatched approved.
