Does this remind anyone else of the MAC Nutcracker Holiday collection? Similarly, MAC released a limited edition Select duos that contain the extra dimension formula in two shades: Select 1 and Select 2 ($42 CAD each). I purchased Select 1 but can tell you that my order for the second colour palette is already on the way!
The compact comes in a magnetic velvet component with the words ‘select’ embossed in plastic above it. I have to say this is a far cry from MACs normal packaging but I really like it. It will get dirty over time as oils and makeup get on the case but as long as your careful, there hopefully will be minimal clean up.
The product comes in a split pan with the highlighter at the top and blush at the bottom, with the words select embossed in the powders. Those not familiar with MACs mineralize skin finish formula, its like a gel-powder hybrid that feels like a powder (with no kick back) when picked up by applies and blends out on the skin like a smooth gel.
Select 1 comes with a highlighter (medium rose gold shade with high shine finish) and a blush (light-medium mauve with a sheen finish). I love the formula of both products as the highlighter is not shimmery but has a beautiful glow and lift to it on the skin and the blush has the most healthy gorgeous sheen. For those who dont like glitter or sparkle in their makeup, I imagine you’d quite enjoy these.
The only issue is that the highlighter is quite dark and would suit medium deep skin tones whereas the blush could work for an array of skin colours. So, anyone with light to medium skins would find the highlighter too dark to work with (like myself) so I use the highlighter as an eyeshadow. I would have preferred another lighter option (fingers crossed when the second compact arrives!)
This is a gorgeous compact, formula and colours so for me, it’s beauty swatched approved!
