Jacklyn Hill put the Marc Jacobs lipgloss on the map and brought back some shine in a world taken over by matte lips! Kris Jenner is also a great figure that rocks these lip products and reminds me why I love a glossy lip every time I sheepishly indulge in KUWTK. So with that, I just had to figure out what these glosses were about so when I saw a value set with a combination of nude and pops of colour, I couldn’t resist.
Although not available on the Sephora Canada site yet, the Marc Jacobs Snake Charmer High Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer set ($39 CAD) is available in stores. This set contains 4 lip glosses in the permanent line and 1 limited edition colour (seen below, far right: ch-ch-changes).
While the glosses performed as promised (high shine) with a surprisingly light weight and non sticky or greasy feel, it was hard to justify the price for this kit. Even for one gloss ($28 CAD), it just didn’t feel worth it.
To be honest, it was just a lip gloss: the pigment had a medium intensity to it, the purple shades were blotchy but workable and the last shade (ch-ch-changes) was nice but not my style (I would wear it more as a nail polish than a lip gloss but my boss actually uses this colour and looks great! Total personal preference). For that reason, I wanted my $40 CAD back and cant beauty swatch approve these. It’s just too dupeable – any drugstore option could give you the same impact.
