I have been eyeing the NARS Cosmetics Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($37 CAD) for so long! I remember trying the liquid concealer years ago and not being that impressed with it (although I want to give it a second chance) because it wasn’t full enough coverage for me. So in deciding to give NARS a second try, I opted for the more full coverage concealer option that comes in the pot.
Custard is a medium yellow shade ideal for olive and warm skin tones. On my skin for some reason this turns a touch salmon (shown in the swatch), but it works for cancelling out the veining without being too cool toned.
While this is almost as light as I could get away with for concealer (I’m about an NC35 from MAC for reference), the next shade up (Ginger) is too dark. Mixing the two would give me my perfect shade but before buying a second pot, I wanted to put Custard to the test.
I have pretty dark under eye circles that I colour correct and look for a concealer that can do three things: (1) be full coverage (2) not drying and (3) match my skin tone
After taking this out for a test run over the past few weeks, I have fallen in love with it. This concealer is full coverage without being caky, does not dry out my under eyes, lasts all day and blends out beautifully! I was worried that this, being in a pot, would be too thick of a consistency but melts effortlessly into the skin and covers up my bags wonderfully. I still have to colour correct underneath my concealer but the application, appearance and longevity of this concealer has made it a favorite for me. I cant wait to finish my Tarte Shape Tape concealer so I can buy Ginger and mix the two for my go to concealer!
Comparing this to the Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard, here are the main differences: (1) the colour of the radiant creamy concealer is slightly lighter, (2) it is not as full coverage and (3) has a sheen finish whereas this one is a comfort matte.
