In 2017, NARS launched a brand new concealer called the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($37 CAD). Although I am late to the party, I’m so happy I was finally able to try it out!
The NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealers are contained in a plastic pot with a soft touch lid that screws on tight to keep air from drying out the product.
The formula of the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealers is what initially steered me away from trying it out. When I hear the word ‘pot concealers’ I immediately associate words like: stiff, caky, drying and hard to blend out. However, the more liquidy NARS Radiant Creamy Concealers just weren’t enough coverage for me, which is what ultimately steered me towards the soft matte concealers.
Upon immediate application, the first thing I noticed was how creamy yet opaque these concealers are. They blend out flawlessly on the skin (it doesn’t matter how much I apply) and always maintains it’s opacity to cover up my dark circles! Most concealers blend away or sheer down the more I buff it into the skin but with the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer, I dont have to choose between blended appearance and opaque coverage. The way this product melts into the skin allows it to look natural, last all day and it’s never drying or cakey under my eyes. This actually creases the least out of all the concealers I own and once it sets, it doesnt budge (even through hot summer days or intense gym workouts!)
Another huge benefit of this concealer, is that it does not oxidize or dry darker on me! The colour in the pot is literally the colour you get. I feel like 99% of the concealers I own jump several shades after they dry on my face so I end up walking around with worse under eyes than I had to begin with! The worst offenders in my collection are the ColourPop No Filter Concealer and even the Tarte Shape Tape (which is also a lot drier than the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealers)
The two colours that I have to try are: Custard (slightly yellow toned concealer for light skins) and Ginger (medium peach shade, although the website says this pulls golden, I tend to disagree). All in all, I’m afraid I might end up collecting all the shades in my skin tone range but am SO happy I found my new holly grail concealer! What’s your favorite?
