The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in shade: Bronzer 6676C ($18.98 CAD) has a YouTube cult following and appears in so many favorite videos. YouTubers compare this to high end bronzers such as Marc Jacobs Tan-tastic Bronzer ($49 CAD) so I had to test it out for myself to see why. This bronzer is pretty expensive for the drug store so I held off on purchasing it until my curiosity got the best of me.
There are 2 shades in this range, a lighter bronzer suitable for fair skin tones and a mid tone shade for medium complexions. Given the hype, hopefully Physicans Formula comes out with a richer shade for deeper skintones.
This formula is SO incredibly silky! It literally feels like silk. I don’t know how else to describe it but it feels better than a lot of my high end bronzers. Michael Finch said it perfectly…
I can see why this product received so much love because it truly just feels “high end”. The formula blends like butter (per the name, how about that!) on the skin, it’s a golden based brown with a slight sheen so it leaves a slight radiance to my skin and has the perfect amount of pigmentation to it. Since this product is so soft yet pigmented, it’s best applied with a big fluffy brush, dusted all over the face. I know some people contour with bronzers and i’m not sure they could get away with doing that for this product. Since it has gold reflex in it, placing this in the hollows of your cheek will bring light and attention to the areas you are trying to depress and it wont have the same effect. Instead, dusting this in a ‘3’ on your forehead, cheeks and jaw will give you a much cleaner sun-kissed look.
Although to me the Butter Bronzer is really expensive for the drugstore, I do enjoy it a lot. If your contemplating between a high end bronzer and this one, i’d recommend going for the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer to save yourself a bit of money and get incredible results.
