The Balm is a really nice makeup brand with some hidden gems (my favorite product is the Mary Loumanizer Highlighter). I remember when this line used to be sold at Sephora and wish that it still were.
When I saw the Nude ‘tude Eyeshadow palette ($36 CAD) I couldn’t wait to play with it. After using it for a while, I have to say that it is a nice palette overall if these are the types of colours that you enjoy but I dont reach for it much because the colours are not my usual cup of tea. In an eyeshadow palette, I enjoy light to medium neutrals that I can wear on the daily. I find in this palette, the light shades are too shimmery and the dark ones are too deep.
One thing I noticed with the Balm eye shadows is that over the years it becomes less buttery and wasn’t as pigmented as the first time I bought it a couple of years ago. Since eye shadows have an expiration date, I think this is normal and I dont hold it against the brand.
The packaging is minimalistic and I really really love it. The shades are in a cardboard exterior with the mirror on the inside and it’s very very thin so it could easily slip away in any type of make up storage unit that you own.
So overall it’s a nice eyeshadow palette if these are the colours that you’re into but for me I don’t reach for this much time for that reason and will probably give it away to a friend. As such, this is not beauty swatched approved.
