Tom Ford Private Shadow: 02 Blonde Venus, 04 Starlet

Tom Ford recently came out with a limited collection of single eye shadows ($44 CAD each) that contain exactly half the amount of product per each shadow in the Tom Ford eye shadow quads at 3 times the price of a Tom Ford quad. Well, now that I’ve gotten the pink elephant out of the way, you can see (kind of) where that money went.

Each single shadow is housed in very luxe packaging that mimics the larger Tom Ford quad eye shadows but with a clasp open. The gold Tom Ford clasp at the front flips open forward allowing you to prop the lid open. As expensive of this eyeshadow is, the pans are not placed straight into the component (they are tilted slightly to the right) that drives me crazy for as expensive as this shadow is. Anyone else ?

The two shades I have are in 02 Blonde Venus and 04 Starlet.

Blonde Venus really confuses me, as you can see it appears lighter in the pan (like a light sand colour) and even picks up on the finger as it is in the pan however swatches like 5 shades darker! It’s the most bizarre thing, but I’d say it applies on the lid like it swatches. Starlet is a slightly deeper warm brown shade ideal for smoking out the outer v or when applied lightly can be a gorgeous crease colour for medium skin tones. For light skins, both would act as a darker crease our outer v shade and for deeper skins, both shades could be used as an all over lid colour as a neutral base.

The formula of these shadows are incredibly beautiful – they are highly pigmented, blend out like a dream and contain enough pigment to pack a gorgeous punch that lasts all day. There is no skipping, blotchiness or tugging at my lid to get a beautiful gradient blend. I’d go as far to say that these perform better than he shades in the quads for some reason and on par with my beloved Viseart eye shadows. However, for as beautiful as these shadows are, they are just too expensive to justify the purchase. Overall the actual quality of the product is beauty swatched approved but not recommended!
