The Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne Daydream Eyeshadow Palette ($35 CAD) is one out of three pieces from the Kristen Leanne x Urban Decay collab (consisting of another, larger, eyeshadow palette and a highlighter palette). Out of the two eyeshadow palettes, this one seems to be the transition palette for any look. I picked up the Daydream palette since the shades spoke to me the most and have it here to review for you today!
The Daydream palette consists of mostly warm shades from left to right: Lucy: a white (neutral), Daydream: a light warm brown, 12/12: a bright coral peach, Subscribe: a slightly darker warm brown (that has some camel tones to it) and Eight: a deep dark brown/purple shade.
While I love the shades and the packaging when seen online, in real life the shades held true to swatches but the packaging was disappointing. The packing felt quite cheap as the pans were not placed straight into the sockets, the cardboard packaging was slightly misaligned when closed and it came with a brush that is useless at best.
However, packaging aside I can see how this palette was developed by a YouTuber since the shades work exactly the way that a lot of makeup ‘gurus’ apply makeup! You have the lighter brown shade that is the base transition, and then a slightly deeper shade to provide a more concentrated crease colour, closer to the mobile lid. As a result, you get a beautiful gradient on the eye that looks like it was a lot more difficult to create. This palette also has a beautiful white shade that I use as my base colour to brighten up the shades above it, a deeper dark purple shade that is formulate perfectly for a deep colour because it blends itself and is not overly pigmented. The middle bright coral shade is a one and done shade that when placed in the crease it’s a pop of colour that evolves from a basic brown to a more colourful alternative yet neutral enough to add some brightness but act as a subtle transition if blended out.
Overall, I love this palette because: 1. I can and will use every shade 2. I love the colour variety of the palette to create a beautiful eye look with minimal effort and 3. The shades last all day, have the right amount of pigment and blendability. This is beauty swatched approved!
