Finally! It feels like a lash company has been listening to a portion of the market who prefers a more natural lash that enhances your eyes without the drama. Personally, I’ve stayed in this portion of the market since I got into makeup and it’s where I have felt the most confident. Now, that’s not to say dramatic lashes are not beautiful and don’t look stunning on others, which they do, but I’ve never felt that they looked quite right on me.
Over the years, I have spend so much time cutting my lashes down to be less clockable and often get that in halfsies or 3/4 lashes but I usually have to trim them down to be shorter for a less dramatic, everyday wear. In case you were curious, my favourites to do this with is the Ardell 301 accents or some 3/4 styles from Eyeleur.
For this reason, I have been eyeing the Velour Lashes Effortless No Trim Natural Lash Collection ($34 CAD each) in Just a Hint. I’m curious to see how many times I can re-use these lashes because they’re really expensive for what they are. If you’d like an update, let me know and i’ll report back.
Just a Hint is a flared out, slightly spiky lash that progressively gets longer. While at first glance spiky lashes may look too intense, they’re actually really soft when applied if you find the right ones that add more volume than they do length.
However, I’m sad to report that yet again, another beauty launch that I was excited for has disappointed me. While I cant make a broad statement about the entire collection because I’ve only tried this one style, this is WAY over priced. I literally paid close to $40 for a pair of lashes that are a bit shiny, not super soft or anything special. For the same price, I can get 4 pairs of eyeleur lashes that look more expensive than this and perform the exact same or better.
So what lesson did this teach me? You don’t need to splurge on lashes!!! IT’s a makeup product that the drugstore has and will continue to own for whatever your preference and I’ll stay right back in that lane.
What’s your favorite lash?
