This product is a ‘Wayne Goss Makeup’ artist made me buy it. For those unfamiliar with his YouTube channel (which I strongly recommend checking out), Wayne is a seasoned makeup artist who shares the most coveted industry secrets and his personal knowledge to help people with their makeup application. I love how down to earth and real he is – I’m so guilty of binge watching his channel and his recommendations have not led me astray yet!
The Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials ($44 CAD) in Bare is an eye primer used to prolong the wear of my eye shadows, prevent creasing and cancel out the discoloration in my lids. This product does an amazing job at all of these, with my only issues being the following: (1) the PRICE. I rather use a $3 wet n wild eye shadow primer to prevent creasing and prolong the wear of my shadows and then a eye shadow on top to neutralize the discoloration than fork up another $44 CAD for this. It’s TOO expensive! and (2) the colour, which is not Trish’s fault. This product does come in sand, which I should have bought instead. Bare has a pink undertone to it, whereas I prefer warmer, yellow base products. However, once you blend shadow on top of the primer, the pink base does not come through or alter the colour of my shadows.
The texture is quite stiff although it blends out nicely upon application. It sets quickly so I recommend applying it to one eye at a time.
If I had the dollars to burn and could pick this up in shade Sand, it would be my one in done eyeshadow primer but for the shade I have and the price that it is, I probably wont be coming back so although a nice product I just cant beauty swatch approve it. 😦
