Beauty Blender Opal Essence Serum Primer

Beauty Blender Opal Essence Serum Primer ($32 CAD)

Despite 4.5/5 reviews on sephora.com and the fact that I love anything (and I mean ANYTHING) beautyblender, the Beauty Blender Opal Essence Serum Primer fell extremely flat for me.

The Beauty Blender Opal Essence Serum Primer claims to be a ‘moisturizing and illuminating primer that gives skin a dewy glow while helping makeup last longer. ‘

The primer comes in a plastic squeeze tube bottle with a twist off top. I hate this packaging as the plastic is so thick that I already have to press the bottle hard when it’s new to get product out. Once I’m half way through the product, it’ll be a struggle to squeeze the bottle.

The consistency of the Beauty Blender Opal Essence Serum Primer is like like a light serum that feels greasy and thin. The appearance of the formula is a metallic pearl that shifts green, purple and pink.

When I use the primer on my face before foundation, it makes my skin appear greasy and I get oily way sooner than normal. While my Beauty Blender foundation lays on top of the serum fine, other products that I love end up bunching up on top of the primer and sits weird.

I then tried to mix the Beauty Blender Opal Essence Serum Primer with my beauty blender foundation, and I finally found a way to use this up! When mixed into my foundation, the Beauty Blender Opal Essence Serum Primer delivers a slightly more dewy appearance to my foundation (but its still nothing a highlighter or another glowy primer cant do).

My favorite dupe to the beauty blender serum primer is the Fresh Illuminating Primer (review linked). This primer has the same holographic appearance to it, with the same intent of delivering hydration and a dewy finish but the Fresh primer feels more luxurious and actually works. Both are the same price but the experience on Fresh is way better, in my opinion.

Overall, I regret this purchase and am sad to come across a beauty blender product I do not like! For anyone considering this, I highly recommend trying the Fresh primer as well in case you dont fall in love with the Beauty Blender Opal Essence Serum Primer
