Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate ($102 CAD) is a cream based contour and highlight palette from Tom Ford. This comes in two shades and I purchased the lighter one in 01 Intensity One.
As with most tom Ford makeup, the compact comes in a velvet pouch to reveal a sleek bronze compact with the Tom Ford logo on the gold clasp at the front. The height of luxury without being excessive or difficult to use, I’m a huge fan of Tom Ford’s packaging.
01 Intensity One contains a pearlescent white shade at the top with a matte slightly warm brown shade at the bottom. The white shade is a shimmer/glitter – free vaseline type of shine. The consistency is transparent enough so that it does not deliver any colour, just shine, on your face. The brown contour / bronzer is thicker but melts into the skin to diffuse out, adding warmth and definition to the face.
The texture of the creams are surprisingly soft and blends out effortlessly on the skin. Both creams melt into my skin for a natural definition that lasts all day.
Overall, this is a beautiful palette to add deffiniton to the face. However, I purchased my Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate platte from a CCO at 60% off, which I think at $40 is worth it. At a $102 price point, there are several alternatives in the market that you will love. The highlighter is basically vaseline (similar to an older Sephora palette I had reviewed on the blog), and the creamy bronzer/contour is highly dupable with many brands. I’d say pass if you cant get this at a discount but if you do have the chance to pick it up, you wont be disappointed.
